Holidays in Copenhagen

Copenhagen is the biggest city of Denmark officially getting that title in the 15th century. The city is also happy to be the home of the oldest monarchy in the world. A recomendation for any tourist going to Copenhagen is the Royal Castle Amalienborg.

Copenhagen is thought to be one of the most fun places to visit as tourist in Europe and it's the largest city in the Oresund (a strait in Denmark) region.

Here is some guidelines if you're going out to eat in Copenhagen:

Brunch

Had one too many cocktails yesterday evening? Or just in need of a correct meal before the day's sight-seeing? Either way "brunch is a good way to kickstart your morning.

Pamper yourself in scrambled eggs, mini sausages, Danish bacon, fresh fruit and delectable pancakes at any of Copenhagen's many cafs.

Cap Horn serves an organic brunch right in Nyhavn, and at the National Gallery of Denmark you can fill up on a complete brunch before you admire all of the great art work.

A truly unique Danish food experience, it's easy to get at lunch time, when the fantastic "smørrebrød" (literally "butter bread", or open sandwich), is served.

normally based mostly on rye bread, smørrebrød can have a virtually inexhaustible number of different toppings, from herring, to raw meat, seafood and egg.

Try great smørrebrød at the Slotskælderen hos Gitte Kik, Aamanns Etablissement, or have a modern version of the conventional open faced sandwich at The Royal Caf that has invented "smushi" "the idea of sushi, but the flavour of "smørrebrød".

The environmental friendly ambitions of Copenhagen are also placed in the menus of many cafes in town. So why not opt for a tasty and sustainable meal?

At BioMio in the Meat Packing District all ingredients are organic. The eatery seats 200 people in a chilled atmosphere and prices are reasonable.

Right next to the Round Tower you'll find dp "a typical Danish hot-dog stand that sells organic sausages with sourdough hot-dog buns and sides like mashed root vegetables.
