Expensive Wines

By Catherine Walter

Dump the ingredients into the jug, fill it with water and stir. Tie the balloon over the opening of the jug with a rubber band. At one time the problem with learning how to make your own wine was that there were no instructions available and so people had to use trial and error methods. Now-a-days, there is no shortage of instructions that show you how to make your own wine. That being said you must still be very careful about which method you use and furthermore you have to ensure being very careful about succeeding in avoiding making common errors.

Fortunately, homemade wine making equipment is available at a relatively inexpensive price, making the art of wine making accessible even to those with a modest income. This in turn means that as you start to learn how to make your own wine you will have to use the instructions as a guideline and then you may be required to tailor your methods in a manner that ensures best results.

At its simplest, homemade wine making doesn't need specialist equipment at all. The balloon will fill with gases as the wine ferments, and then deflate again.First off, you need to have primary fermenter, after which you will require a Carboy or secondary fermenter. Then you need an airlock and rubber bung, stir device, sanitizer and oak chips as too a wine kit and finally, plenty of sugar.

Other important ingredients that you must have if you want to put what you have learned about how to make your own wine included a pH balancer, yeast, Bentonite, sulphite and potassium sorbate and some keiselsol and chitosan. With these ingredients and items on hand you have to learn that how to make your own wine requires understand the preparation method; then you need to add some juice and yeast. After that you have to periodically check your creation, and learn to rack the wine, add a few necessary chemicals, top it up, after which all that is required is bottling and then you can serve your homemade wine.

To explain what all these items do would be beyond the scope of this article. Suffice it to say that if you don't already know, you are probably better off starting with a kit. Red wines are great wines and when making them on your own you will not need to learn anything new because the same methods that are used for making other wines are equally applicable in the case of making red wines.
