Choosing Between Hormone Replacement Therapy and Natural Supplements

By Ben Mester

Due to the fact that the hormones in the human body are so complicated, it's hard to regulate them with just oral supplements. If an individual were to take something like growth hormone, for example, in pill form, when it got to the gut, the digestive tract would break it down into its basic elements, and those elements would be absorbed and used for whatever job the body saw fit.

In order for an individual to directly boost levels of hormones in their blood stream, they generally have to undergo hormone replacement treatment of some sort, which as the name implies, essentially puts hormones directly into the blood stream. But many people are cautious about undergoing this type of procedure unless its absolutely necessary.

The body occasionally just needs a better supply of building blocks. That's why, before undergoing hormone replacement therapy, many persons first try taking natural supplements that encourage the body to manufacture the complex chemicals it's having an insufficiency in. If you have an interest in this, perform a little research on the precursors to the particular hormone you're experiencing an inadequacy in.

Many specific amino acids act as precursors to lots of different hormones and other complicated body chemicals, and when taken in supplement form, can help the body to build more of those said hormones. Of course, the issue isn't always with the creation of the hormones. In a few cases, the issue lies with the release of the hormones.

Many glands exist in the body that release hormones into the blood stream when triggered, hormones such as human growth hormone. Occasionally, the glands have a sufficient supply of the hormone in question but aren't being triggered to release enough of it into the blood stream. Often poor habits may cause an insufficiency in the release of particular hormones, and at times the gland in question can also be experiencing a condition or ailment. So try to find out the specific nature of your deficiency.
