To cake or to cupcake, that is the question. The first thing you will need to decide is whether you want to serve a full cake or serve individual cupcakes to your family and friends. There are several factors you should look at. Younger attendees often do better with individual cupcakes since they generate less mess and are less difficult for small fingers to hold on to. On the flip side, if you have a large number of guests chances are you'll opt for a cake because it feeds a lot more people. Decide on the one that makes the most sense to you.

Cupcakes are a really fun strategy to let your creativity flow. They enable you to create a whole bunch of little cakes to serve to your attendees. You can frost your cupcakes in all the different Gabba colors; blue, green, orange, yellow and pink. Yet another cool idea is to make your own cupcake picks. Simply print 3" tall images of all of the characters from the tv show and attach a toothpick to them with tape. If you are more advanced you can get some fondant and mold all the characters (or just their faces) and set them on top of your cupcakes.

Cakes are the more traditional selection for birthday parties. Just like cupcakes, you are able to ice your cake in the five distinct Yo Gabba Gabba colors. Or, how about making a 5 tiered cake using the five character shades stacked on top of each other? You can go online and print out a traceable picture of your child's favorite character then trace and cut this design out of a sheet cake.

Should you bake the cake or purchase the cake? The response to this question really will depend on your comfort level and your time schedule. Generally homemade birthday desserts will take up lots of time, especially if you want to be inventive. Some people now days decide to have their local bake shop make a cake their child will never forget. Go online and find images of cakes you like, print them out and bring them to your bakery. It's a fun way to be creative without taking up loads of time.
